Small business email marketing
Small business email marketing that actually goes out.
Planned, custom-built, set up on the platform of your choice. Welcome flows, cart messages, monthly newsletters, re-engagement — written in your voice and running on their own, so the marketing channel you own most works while you're busy doing the actual job.
Platform-agnostic — I build on the one you use:
Mailchimp
Klaviyo
Brevo
MailerLite
ConvertKit
Beehiiv
What you get
The marketing channel you actually own.
Social platforms can change the rules overnight. Google rankings shift on every algorithm update. Email is the one channel where your customer list belongs to you — and set up with some care, it's the highest-ROI marketing most small businesses ever do.
👋
Welcome flows
A short sequence that fires automatically when someone signs up — introduces your business, builds trust, and nudges them toward a first action. Pound for pound, it's the email work that earns its keep fastest.
🛒
Cart & browse messages
For shop businesses. Abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase thank-you, review request, win-back. Automated lifecycle flows that typically out-earn every other email channel combined.
📩
Monthly newsletters
Custom-built, on-brand monthly emails that keep you in front of your customers between purchases or appointments. Written from scratch in your voice — not pulled off a template and not churned out by a bot.
🔁
Re-engagement campaigns
For customers who haven't opened anything in 3, 6, 12 months. A two- or three-email sequence designed to win them back — or get them to politely unsubscribe, which keeps your list healthy.
📣
Promotional campaigns
Launches, seasonal offers, event invites, announcements. Designed and written for the moment, not pulled from a template library. Sent or scheduled on your behalf.
🛠️
Platform setup & migration
If you don't have a platform yet, I'll recommend one and set it up. If you're on the wrong platform, I'll migrate you cleanly without losing subscribers, history or automations.
Editable email templates
Templates built for your brand — that you can edit yourself.
Want to send your own emails between projects? I build bulletproof, on-brand HTML templates — welcome emails and newsletters — tested across Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail, with plain-English edit markers so you can swap your text, images and links in minutes. No coding, nothing to break. There are also three free LiamMail-branded templates you can download right now to try the idea.
Sample — a welcome sequence
What a built-properly welcome flow looks like.
Five emails over the first month. Each one written from scratch in your voice, designed for your brand, sent automatically the moment someone signs up.
Email 1
The warm welcome
Confirms their enquiry or purchase, tells them what to expect, makes them feel like they made the right choice.
Instantly
Email 2
The "here's what we're about"
A short, human email sharing your story, what you stand for, and the kind of results your customers get. Builds trust.
Day 2
Email 3
The social proof nudge
A real story or review from a happy customer. Reminds them why they signed up and nudges them toward coming back or buying again.
Day 7
Email 4
The gentle prompt
A non-pushy invite to get in touch, book again, or take the next step. Automated, so you never have to chase.
Day 14
Email 5
The re-engagement check-in
A friendly nudge that asks if there's anything you can help with — and offers something useful (a tip, a guide, a small incentive) to keep the relationship warm.
Day 30
How it works
From plan to live, in four steps.
01
Plan the system
Before any emails get written, we agree the strategy. Which flows do you need (welcome, cart, re-engagement, newsletter)? Which platform fits your business? What's the customer journey from sign-up to repeat buyer? This is the part most agencies skip — and it's why their email work doesn't move the needle.
02
Write & design
I write every email from scratch in your voice — subject line, body copy, calls to action, preview text. Designed on-brand (your fonts, colours, logo, photography) and built in custom HTML so it renders properly on every email client. Not pulled from a template library.
03
Build the automation
Set up on your platform of choice — triggers, conditions, branches, exit rules. GDPR-compliant from day one (consent, suppression, unsubscribe, preference centre). DNS, SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured so your emails actually land in inboxes.
04
Hand over & track
Everything documented. You get a handover walkthrough so you can see how it all runs, plus simple analytics setup so you can watch the open rates, clicks and conversions come in. Then it runs on its own — and you can come back for fresh campaigns whenever you want.
Common questions
The things people ask before commissioning email.
Do I really need email marketing if I'm small?
Almost certainly yes. Email is one of the few marketing channels you truly own — your social platforms can change the rules, your Google rankings can shift overnight, but your email list belongs to you. For most small businesses, a well-built welcome sequence pays for itself within the first few months.
Which email platform do you build on?
Yours. I'm platform-agnostic — Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo, MailerLite, ConvertKit, Beehiiv. If you already have one, I'll build on it. If you don't, I'll recommend the right one for your business (shop, service, newsletter, advice firm — they all suit different platforms) and set it up properly.
What's a welcome flow and do I need one?
A welcome flow is a short sequence of emails that goes out automatically when someone signs up. It introduces your business, sets expectations, builds trust, and nudges them toward a first action (booking, purchase, follow-up). Most small businesses lose a third of new subscribers in the first two weeks because there's nothing in place to hold their attention. A welcome flow is the single highest-ROI thing in email marketing.
Do you write the actual emails, or just set up the system?
Both. The copy is part of every email project — written in your brand voice, not templated. I write subject lines, body copy, calls to action, and the supporting metadata (preview text, sender name, alt text). The system setup matters, but it's the words inside the emails that make them work.
What about GDPR? My current list is a mess.
Common situation. I've done formal GDPR training and email list health audits are part of what I do — consent mechanisms, suppression setup, unsubscribe paths, list cleaning. If you've got addresses you're not sure about, I'll help you sort it before anything starts going out.
I have an online shop. Can you do abandoned cart and post-purchase emails?
Yes. For shop businesses, automated lifecycle flows — abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase thank-you, review request, win-back — are typically the highest-revenue email work. Best built on Klaviyo or Mailchimp depending on your shop platform.
Can I do this monthly, or only as a one-off?
Both. The initial setup (planning, welcome flows, automation, list health) is a one-off. After that, ongoing monthly campaigns (newsletters, promotional sends, seasonal launches) can be added through the
Monthly Content package — one month's notice to pause or stop.
How long does it take?
A welcome sequence is usually 2–3 weeks from brief to live. A full email setup (welcome + nurture + re-engagement + newsletter template + GDPR review) is typically 4–6 weeks. Shop lifecycle flows take longer because there's more to build.
Email that does the work for you.
Tell me about your business — what you sell, how customers find you, what's not happening in your inbox right now that should be. I'll come back with a plan and a clear quote within a day or two.
