Brand identity design

Small business branding that fits the door.

A real logo, real colours, real typography — designed once, used everywhere. The same identity on your shopfront, your inbox, your Instagram and your receipts. Without the agency price tag, or the 60-page guideline doc nobody ever opens.

An identity that looks at home wherever it shows up.

Most small-business "branding" stops at a logo. That's why so many feel patchy a year in — different fonts on the website, the receipts, the Instagram. I design the whole system at once.

Sample — colour palette
Confident, considered.

A primary colour, supporting tones, neutrals — with HEX, RGB and CMYK values for web, signage and print.

Sample — typography system
Hello, I'm new.
Display — Fraunces, 600

A body face chosen to pair perfectly with your display type. Set at a comfortable size, with enough line-height to feel calm.

Body — DM Sans, 400

Everything you need, nothing you don't.

A focused kit you can put to work on day one. Real files, ready to use, not a thick rulebook gathering dust.

Primary logo
Wordmark, monogram or mark — designed in vector. Delivered as SVG, PNG, PDF and editable source files (.ai or .afdesign).
Logo variations
Horizontal, stacked, icon-only and reversed-for-dark versions — so it sits right wherever it goes.
Colour palette
Primary, secondary, neutrals — with HEX, RGB and CMYK values for web, print and signage.
Typography system
A display face and a body face that look right together. Web-safe and licensed, with print pairings.
One-page brand style sheet
The whole system on a single page you can email to anyone making things for you later — your printer, your sign-maker, a freelance illustrator.
Social profile graphics
Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile — square, round, banner. Sized correctly so they don't get cropped weird.
Email signature template
A signature block that works in Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail — branded, professional, easy to update.
Print-ready files
Business cards, signage artwork, menus, flyers — set up correctly for your printer so nothing gets rejected at production.

From nothing to launch-ready, in four steps.

01
Tell me about your business
A short conversation, not a 40-page form. Who your customers are, the category cues that matter, the feeling you want them to walk away with, and where you are now.
~30 min · Week 1
02
Direction & first concepts
I show you 2–3 distinct directions early — not 30 cluttered variations. We pick one to refine. The other directions get archived; you only see the work that's worth your time.
Week 1–2
03
Refine & build the system
Once we've agreed the direction, I build out the full identity — colour, type, all the deliverables. Rounds of amends until you're happy.
Week 2–3
04
Handover & launch kit
All files delivered in organised folders, plus your one-page brand sheet and a 15-minute walkthrough call. If you're rebuilding your website too, we roll straight into that.
Week 3–4

Branding in build right now.

A luxury hair and beauty salon in Edinburgh and Musselburgh — identity work tightening their brand across signage, social, email and a brand-new website.

Logo and identity refresh alongside a custom-built website — calm, confident, on-brand. The same wordmark, palette and typography across signage, social, email signatures and the new site.

The things people ask before commissioning branding.

Do I need a brand designed, or can I get by with what I have?
It depends. If your logo was made in Word in 2019 and you have no consistent colours or fonts, customers absorb that — even subconsciously — and it costs you sales. If your brand is fine and consistent, you don't need me. I'll tell you honestly which side you're on.
Do you do brand strategy or just visual design?
Both, lightweight. Every brand project starts with a short conversation about who your customers are, what feeling you want them to walk away with, and what category cues matter. Then I design from that — not from a vibe.
What do I get at the end?
A logo in editable and export-ready formats (SVG, PNG, PDF, source files), a defined colour palette with HEX/RGB/CMYK values, a typography system with web and print pairs, a one-page brand style sheet you can hand to anyone, plus social profile graphics, an email signature template, and print-ready files for signage, cards and menus.
How long does a brand project take?
Usually 2–4 weeks from brief to handover for a logo + identity system. Longer if it's a full rename or relaunch with print production.
Can I commission branding without a website?
Yes. Branding is bundled into Website Only and Complete if you want both, but commissioning solo is completely fine — most salons, cafés and trades come to me for branding first, website later.
I already have a logo. Can you refine it instead of redesigning?
Yes. If the bones are good but the implementation is patchy — inconsistent colours, no defined type system, no usable files — a brand refinement is often cheaper and quicker than a full redesign. I'll be honest about which is the better call.
Do you work with print suppliers and sign-makers?
I deliver print-ready files (CMYK, with bleed, in the formats your supplier needs) but I don't manage print production. Tell me who your printer is and I'll set the files up to their specs.

A brand that earns its keep.

Tell me about your business — what you do, who your customers are, and what's not working with your current brand (or what you'd love to start fresh with). I'll come back with honest advice and a clear quote within a day or two.
