Privacy policy.
Plain English. No legalese hedge. This page explains what data LiamMail collects, what it's used for, and the rights you have under UK GDPR.
Who I am
LiamMail is a sole-trader web design, branding and email marketing business run by Liam Kane in Edinburgh. The data controller for any personal information collected through this site is me, Liam Kane.
You can reach me at liammail.co.uk/#contact.
What I collect, and when
If you fill in the contact form
The contact form on this site collects:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your business name (optional)
- Your location (optional)
- The service you're interested in
- The message you send
This data is used to reply to you about your enquiry and, if we end up working together, to scope and deliver your project. Nothing more. I don't send marketing emails to people who fill in this form unless you've separately and explicitly asked to be added to a list.
If you just browse
This site does not use third-party analytics, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or session recording tools. Your browser may receive standard server logs (IP address, browser type) from the hosting provider, retained for security and performance purposes only.
Cookies
This site uses one technical cookie set by your browser's localStorage to remember your preferences if you use the Free Tools section. That's it. There are no advertising, marketing, or analytics cookies set by LiamMail.
Third parties who process data on my behalf
Formspree
The contact form is delivered by Formspree. When you submit the form, your submission is routed through Formspree's servers to my email inbox. Formspree is GDPR-compliant and acts as a data processor. See their privacy policy for details.
Hosting
This site is hosted on a static-site hosting provider. Standard server logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp) are retained for security and performance purposes only.
How long I keep your data
- Contact form enquiries that don't lead to a project: kept for 12 months from your last contact, then deleted.
- Client project records: kept for 6 years after project completion to meet UK tax and accounting record-keeping requirements (HMRC).
- Server logs: typically 30–90 days at the hosting provider, then automatically purged.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal data I hold about you
- Ask me to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask me to delete your personal data (subject to legal obligations like HMRC retention)
- Ask me to restrict how I use it
- Object to processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw any consent you've given
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think I've handled your data badly
To exercise any of these rights, email me via the contact form. I'll respond within 30 days.
If anything changes
If I make material changes to this policy (e.g. start using new third parties, add analytics), I'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for active clients, notify you directly.
Want to talk?
If anything here is unclear or you have questions about how LiamMail handles data — including any data on a project we've worked on together — drop me a message via the contact form. I'd rather you ask than wonder.
